Diary of a turpentine junkie

This mockumentary-style art book is a unique combination of irony and deep psychological analysis. She talks about the daily life of an artist whose days are filled with a manic obsession with creating new paintings. This obsession with drawing in the artist is comparable to painful addictions such as drug addiction, alcoholism and smoking. The peculiarity of the book is that it is based on real open entries in anonymous Internet diaries of people who have recovered from various addictions and kept a diary of their healing. The texts of these diaries were hardly edited, except for the replacement of certain words. For example, the word “alcohol” was replaced with “paints”, thereby transferring the context of addiction to the sphere of creativity. This technique turns the book into something more than just a collection of notes; it becomes a kind of handwritten diary of an unknown artist, illustrating his inner world, struggles and creative impulses.
